June Whitehead, Senior Carer at Longlands Care Home in Middlesbrough was recently made the company's 300th Dignity Champion. The special ceremony took place at Longlands and was attended by Sharon O'Connor, Mimosa's Managing Director, who presented June with flowers.
Mimosa is passionate about Dignity in Care and in the past year has introduced many initiatives into its care homes, such as Protected Mealtimes and Care in Progress signs for residents' bedroom doors. Each of the groups' care homes has a Dignity in Care information board in reception areas and the company now has just over 300 Dignity Champions.
Dr Ashok Kumar MP also recently visited Longlands to join in the celebrations to mark Dignity Action Day. He was so pleased to be invited and was so well informed about Mimosa's dignity campaign that he said he was going to mention Longlands in his session at Parliament. Here he is pictured with one of the staff.
6 May 2010 - It is with deep sadness that we heard of the death of Dr Kumar. All the staff at Mimosa wish to offer our deepest condolensces to Dr Kumar's family and friends.
